Scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef

The P.A.D.I Open water Certification Course is your passport to an exciting new world of adventure. The course will teach you the skills to safely and comfortably explore the underwater world. The course involves a three step process. First you will participate in online classroom sessions where you will watch audio-visual presentations on topics such as scuba equipment use, the marine environment, dive planning and more.

Once your have completed your online traning, you will complete your training at one of our PADI 5 star traning centres; either on Hamilton Island or in Airlie Beach.

There you will learn and practice scuba skills in the familiar surrounds of a clear swimming pool. Here you will gain confidence in using the scuba equipment. After your pool training you will be ready for your four Open water training dives, which are conducted over two days on the Great Barrier Reef, the largest reef formation in the world and one of the 7 wonders of the world.

The course normally takes 4 days, however with e learning you can make it only 3. The days are fairly full, typically from 8.00am to 5.00pm. However, you will be having lots of fun, especially the 2 days when you will joining the scheduled Scuba and Snorkeling trips on some of the best reef locations. Other members of your family or party who dive or snorkel may wish to join you on these trips.

After completion of the course you will be able to dive confidently to a maximum depth of 18m, with a certified buddy anywhere in the world with similar conditions.
